Israeli forces killed 40 top Iranian officials within a minute of opening salvo, IDF says on Sunday.
The Israel Defense Forces said it killed 40 senior Iranian commanders in the opening minute of Operation Roaring Lion, targeting leadership sites in Tehran. Among those reportedly killed was Maj.-Gen. Abdolrahim Mousavi.
Israel said more than 200 aircraft struck 500 targets, including air defenses and missile facilities. The United States joined the campaign, claiming strikes on hundreds of additional targets.
Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israeli cities and US bases, as the confrontation widened across the region.
